2. Understand grease
Once you have determined the type of grease you need, you can start to choose the grease. However, there are many kinds of grease in the market. What kind of grease is good? How to judge the quality of grease? Now let's take a look at the selection method of Dalian bearing grease.
(1) Look at the production date. Generally, the storage time of lubricating grease should not be too long. Users should choose the grease with a shelf life of no more than one year. The lubricating grease with a shelf life of more than one year can be used only after passing the inspection. If the lubricating grease has a shelf life of more than one year or is not within the shelf life, it cannot be selected. Even if such lubricating grease is selected, it will not have a great effect, or even damage the bearing.
(2) Look at the appearance. Different types of grease have different colors, but no matter what color the grease is, it should be a paste with uniform viscosity. If the color of the grease is different or the skin is hardened, there is more floating oil on the surface of the grease or the consistency is obviously reduced, or the surface of the grease is emulsified and whitened due to the mixing of water, these phenomena indicate that the grease has deteriorated and cannot be used.
(3) Smell. If the package is opened and you smell the obvious odor of sour grease, it indicates that the lubricating grease has deteriorated. The deteriorated lubricating grease cannot be used. If you persist in using it, it will not only have no effect but also damage Dalian bearings.
(4) Hand twist. When the grease without filler is twisted by hand, the hand feel is smooth and there is no touch; Otherwise, it may be that the thickener is unevenly dispersed or mixed with impurities. This grease will increase the resistance of bearing operation and cannot be used. However, the lubricating grease containing filler powder has a slight hand feel, so we should pay attention to distinguish it.

(5) Burn with fire. Pick up a piece of lubricating grease with iron wire, and then burn it with a lighter. If the lubricating grease softens and drips, it indicates that it is low-quality lubricating grease with low dropping point and cannot be used. It should be noted that this method can only identify low-quality lubricating grease with low dropping point. Because the flame temperature of the lighter does not exceed 120~130 ℃, and the dropping point of most lubricating grease exceeds this temperature, it will not drop when burning with the lighter.
(6) Sunlight. Take a piece of lubricating grease and put it in a cup and expose it to the sun for a day or two. If the grease body changes greatly, oil separation or discoloration occurs, which indicates that the performance of the grease is unstable and cannot be used. If the grease body does not change significantly after being exposed to the sun for a period of time, it indicates that the performance of the grease is relatively stable and can be considered for use.
(7) Water addition method. Take a small amount of lubricating grease and put it in the cup, add a few drops of water on it, and then stir it with a glass rod. If it becomes turbid and white, it indicates that the grease is easy to emulsify, not water resistant grease. If there is no obvious change after adding water, it indicates that the water resistance of the grease is still acceptable, and it can be considered for use.
